Dear Residents,

The Manhattan Food Pantry was started by the Manhattan Girl Scouts of Trailways Council in November of 1997 to serve the communities of Manhattan and Elwood. It has always been funded through private donations, and it continues to be a vital part of the support system that residents can count on in a time of need. As we enter our 13th year, the Manhattan Food Pantry has taken time to reflect upon where we started as well as where we see ourselves within the communities of Manhattan and Elwood in the future.  

Economic conditions are such that many families need assistance. Our community is growing, and so is the need for a place where people can come for help. It is because of the escalating requests that we receive that we ask you to be aware that the donations cannot always keep up with the requests that we receive.  

Know that we are here to help but due to our limited resources, we should be used as a temporary source of aid. A list of county services is attached for your reference. Please note, if you are using another pantry or service that you refrain from using our services. ONLY ONE FAMILY PER HOUSEHOLD (ADDRESS) WILL BE ACCEPTED.
